Marek Korbel became a PAOK handball player on Monday. The amateur “two-headed” announced the acquisition of the 29-year-old Slovakian regional player for the next year, so that he can be strengthened in the attack.
Last season Korbel was competing in the Italian Brixen.
In detail, the announcement:
“PAOK and the men’s handball department announce the start of cooperation with the athlete, Marek Korbel, for the 2024-2025 season.
Born in Slovakia on 06/03/1995, Marek Korbel plays on the periphery and is 192cm tall.
He took his first steps in handball from SKP Bratislava, his hometown team, in 2006, staying there until 2018. The next two years (2018-2020) found him in the Czech Republic, playing for Zubri.
In July 2020, he moved to Romania, playing in the Fagaras jersey, however, due to the coronavirus, the league was interrupted in December 2020 to continue in Nove Veseli in the Czech Republic and then in Talent Plzen, with whom he won the Czech Cup.
In the 2022-23 season he returned to his beloved SKP Bratislava, making excellent performances. The previous season (2023-24) he played in Italy with Brixen, winning the Italian Cup and reaching the last 16 of the EHF Cup, while finishing second in the league.
He is an international with the Slovakian national team, with whom he has competed in the qualifying stages of the European Championship in the 2018-19 season, as well as in 2022.
Regarding the start of cooperation with PAOK, Marek Korbel stated on the club’s official website, acpaok.gr: “I am happy to become a member of the PAOK family. There are many challenges ahead of us both in domestic competitions and in the EHF Cup. I will give my best so that the team can achieve its goals. I can’t wait for the official matches of the new season to start.”
