Santorini once again “magnetizes” all the eyes of world sports as it prepares for the 7the Santorini Experience which will be held by 3 to 6 October 2024. Professional and amateur athletes will have the opportunity to enjoy, in an explosive setting, sports actions in unique parts of the island such as the Volcano and the path that connects Oia to Fira with the impressive Caldera and the exceptional view of the Aegean.
Her Friday, October 4 in the morning, participants will swim from the Volcano to the old port of Fira, with the imposing view of the island in front of them, in the exciting race open water 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The Santorini volcano is the best known of the volcanoes that make up the volcanic arc of the Aegean. It is one of the largest submarine volcanoes that remains active with its famous caldera being the only inhabited one in the world. The swimming course will be held, as every year, with absolute safety in the enchanting waters of Santorini (average water temperature at 22-23 degrees Celsius). Specialized lifeguards and lifeboats will contribute to the safety of the race, while the organization will take care of all its athletes by providing a safety life jacket, providing additional safety to each participant. The use of the personal float is mandatory for everyone. Technical Director of the swimming competition is the swimming coach with Olympic and world awards Nikos Gemelos, which this year had 6or Olympiad own athlete to participate.
From the Paris Olympics to Santorini
Santorini will have its fair share again this year as athletes from the world elite of open water swimming who participated in the Paris Olympic Games are expected to be on the island this year.
