Finally Temur Ketspaja from the Cyprus national team!
The Georgian, former coach of Olympiakos and AEK, after 20 matches on the bench of Cyprus is a thing of the past, effectively paying for the team’s bad course. Of course, the icing on the cake was the heavy home defeat 4-0 from Kosovo score which was also one of the heaviest defeats in Ketspaja’s career.
Sofronis Augusti, who is now on the bench of Karmiotissa, is the dominant one to take over the technical leadership of the Cyprus national team.
The “divorce” was made official by the president of the Cyprus Football Federation, George Koumas:
“During a conversation I had with the coach of the National Men’s Team, Mr. Timur Ketspaja, we exchanged views on the image presented by our representative group in the last two matches and earlier.
Mr. Ketspaja made himself available to the Federation, in order to make the necessary decisions to improve the competitive performance and the climate in our National team. He suggested that perhaps what the team needs is a drastic change.
We had no doubt that, at this difficult time for our National Team, Mr. Timur Ketspaja would demonstrate professionalism, seriousness and his proven love for the National Team and football in general. His attitude honors him, but to those who know him, it comes as no surprise. Unfortunately, neither Mr. Ketspaja nor the Federation managed to achieve the desired results through this cooperation.
We sincerely thank Mr. Timur Ketspaia and wish him every success, both on a personal and professional level,” said the head of the Cypriot federation.”
It should be noted that in 20 matches on the Cyprus bench, Temur Ketspaia had 13 losses, five wins and two draws.
