Gagatsis: “Despite suspicion, there is objectivity and credibility in arbitration”

I welcome you to the Extraordinary Statutory General Assembly of the Federation and take this opportunity to thank you publicly for the honor you did me last July and elected me president of the EPO.

In the short time of the new administration, we have faced a number of challenges and have been called upon to make decisions and take initiatives on critical issues and chronic problems.

With speed and determination we provided the best, in my opinion, solution to the matter of the new federal coach with the hiring of Ivan Jovanovic and at the same time we secured the assistance – in knowledge and experience – of Vassilis Torosidis and Dimitris Salpingidis, for whom they are not needed recommendations.

At the same time, we strengthened the organizational base of the National Teams of all ages with Dimitris Papadopoulos, another former international and member of the 2004 National Team. Because a National Team is not just the Men’s.

For this reason, we did not hesitate to touch the most “hot potato” regarding the operation and development of the representative complexes: the definitive solution with their permanent roof. The creation of the “House of National Teams”.

And because the home is the temple of the family, we are here and we are working with all our strength so that we can find a sustainable solution for the big blue and white family, which consists of players of all ages. A definitive – I repeat – solution that will upgrade our infrastructure and offer the National Teams the conditions they deserve. Speaking of “solutions” and “hot potatoes” it is impossible not to mention the crucial issue of the composition of the new Central Arbitration Committee.

Although neither time nor generalized suspicion were our allies, we brought to KED three internationally recognized and completely specialized executives. People of UEFA’s choice, with whom we cooperated with speed and efficiency, who work every day with professionalism and dedication for the development and improvement of refereeing in our country. Their presence guarantees the objectivity, quality and reliability of our refereeing, contributing to the smooth running of the championships.

A little while ago I told you that the Men’s National Team is not the only one and now I tell you that football is not only professional. All of you, of course, know that I come from and am a native of professional football.

But I am born in amateur football.

I am aware of the needs, problems and challenges facing amateur football and I assure you that all my energy will be devoted to its upgrading. I am proud to announce the establishment of a new committee with the exclusive responsibility of supporting and developing amateur football. A committee envisioned by Nikos Tzorgzoglou.

Our vision is equality, justice and the upgrading of football at all levels. Through modern ways of thinking, hard work and teamwork, I am convinced that we will achieve our goals and raise our football to new levels. To achieve this we need to release all our positive forces to develop, to work together and to offer society what others enjoy and enjoy: a real sporting spectacle.
