Dionysis Soulis at +94k and Marilisa Frrokou at -70k. fighting, won the silver medal in their categories, with our country reaching 7 in the event, a result of the systematic work done by the Greek federation and of course the athletes themselves, the coaches and their unions.

Our country has 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in the event, while we still have two days of competitive action ahead of us to… grow the collection of medals.

Soulis is a breath of gold

Dionysis Soulis arrived… 13 seconds away from the gold medal. Playing with a 13-10 lead against Dauren Ondanbayev in the +94k Fighting final, his opponent managed to get an ippon and climb to the highest step of the podium, with the Greek champion taking second place in the world.

“Congratulations to the federation, it was a very nice championship. I tried hard and I succeeded. A thank you to my parents, who have supported me all these years, to my teacher Dimitris Panagiotopoulos, who we have grown up with since we were 5 years old and guides me, and another thank you to my teacher Giorgos Kladiotis, who during the years I was in Athens and studying helped me and I felt like part of his team. I was waiting for the gold, I didn’t manage to get it, but that’s okay, next time,” he said.

“Argyri” and Frrokou

Marilisa Frrokou made a terrific appearance and won the silver medal in -70k fighting. After defeating all her opponents, in the final she competed against the outstanding Frenchwoman Chloe Laland, to whom she lost by ippon.

This is how she won 2nd place in the world, a huge success for her and the Greek colors.

After the final, the champion stated the following: “The truth is that what I expected did not come, but something much better! Too happy, indescribable. Those who do not do sports, lose this feeling. Good luck to the rest of the kids competing. The level was very good, I was also delighted with myself. I dedicate it to our family friend Irene who passed away. I had her as a sister and the medal is dedicated to her.”
