Djurgarden and Panathinaikos face off today (07/11) at 22:00 (sport-fm.gr, News Bulletin 247 and COSMOTE SPORT 5), in Stockholm, in its context 3rd matchday of the League Phase of this year’s Conference League.
The Swedish team lost anything but at her best…. It comes from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Halmstad which kept them fourth in the league and a point off European-leading 3rd.
At the same time, a few days earlier, made a change of coach after five yearswith Robert Bjorknesio replacing Kim Bergstrand and next Sunday… play their part against Norrköping, but not everything depends on them, even if they win.
To all of the above, add the fact that Djurgarden only counts for one point in this year’s Conference League and you understand how is facing a critical… crossroadsas to where she should throw her weight!
On the other hand, things for the “greens” are much clearer: victory in the Stockholm Arena can only be… an end in itself for them!
The conquest of the three points, if indeed it is possible with a “clean” score and as many goals as possible in their favoris the only result that (must) exist in the mind of everyone in Panathinaikos…
And how could it be different, of course, since the harvest is after the first two competitive seasons just one point, while the goal difference is -3;
With the goal of the “trefoil”, perfectly normal, to be nothing less than qualifying for the next phase of the competition, ideally also through the first eight, one realizes the criticality of tonight’s match.
Panathinaikos won in Rui Vitoria’s debut in Volos and wants to do 2×2 with the Portuguese technician on his bench, again away from home. reaping in addition to scoring and psychological benefitsin view of the sequel.
Hence Vitoria not only he does not intend to go into an extended rotationbut it will not cause the slightest surprise if he trusts the 11 that he used in the Panthessal stadium, with one or two maximum changes!
From then on, the Greek Cup winners will have on their side and about 1,500 fans while they made sure to train at “Georgios Kalafatis” on a field with a synthetic carpet to acclimatize to the conditions of the match…
There are no injury problems to Panathinaikos, with all available footballers who have been declared on the list of European matches included in the squad and traveling to Sweden.
