Toliopoulos: “Let’s qualify through this window – In the national team, you are not interested in being a protagonist”

Qualifying from this “window” to Eurobasket is the goal of the National team, as stated by Vassilis Toliopoulos ahead of the two matches with Great Britain first tonight (21:30).

“I believe that there is an opportunity to test some players who have the ability to give something to the National team and who were not here in the summer to show what they are worth. Whether it’s in the qualifiers or a big tournament, it’s great to represent your country and we feel very honored to be here. Our goal is to secure qualification for Eurobasket when this second window is completed“, said the ace of Aris, who in the summer arrived with the national emblem at the Olympic Games.

“It all starts with your club and how hard you work. If you are not good with your team, you will not be called to the National team. But the most important thing is that in the national team you are not interested in being the protagonist. You are interested in doing everything you can for the team to win and not for someone to stand out individually. You have to work very hard and every day in your team. And then when the call comes to the National Team, to give your best in whatever is asked of you to win the team“, he added.

“In the summer I had the honor and the opportunity to be given a great role in the National Team… I was ready to seize this opportunity. It was a dream of mine to be there. But I say again, that what matters is that the team grows and not that you grow from the tournament that you will play well or not“, he noted.
