“He never liked retirement anyway”. With this humorous rant and a video of some of the highlights of their great rivalry, the Novak Djokovic announced his hiring Andy Murray as a coach, to help him prepare ahead of him Australian Open of 2025.
“We’ve been playing with each other since we were boys – 25 years of being rivals, pushing each other beyond our limits. We’ve had some of the most epic fights in our sport. They called us game changers, risk takers. I thought our story might be over. Turns out he has one last chapter. It’s time for one of my toughest rivals to join my team. Welcome, Coach Andy Murray!”, Djokovic says in the video.
THE Murray confirmed the news with his statement: “I will be joining Novak’s team for the offseason, helping him prepare for the Australian Open. I’m really excited about it and I’m looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, helping him achieve his goals.”
We remind you that the great Andy Murrayowner of three Grand Slamrecently retired after a long career full of great moments but also injuries that didn’t let him reach as high as he could. They have faced Djokovic a total of 36 times, and the Serb has won 25 of them.
