Panathinaikos comfortably passed Orestiada

by

Athlos “paid” the exclusion from Olympiakos! A few days after the defeat in Metz by their “eternal” rival for the League Cup, Panathinaikos made… a walk in Orestiada (0-3 sets) and with its third consecutive “three points” in the Volley League, it climbed to the 2nd place position of the championship, after six matches.

The players of Dimitris Andreopoulos did not face any problem, who after the initial opposition that Athlos put against them, managed, at the most critical point, to escape the score and lead by +5 (16-21). The hosts responded by going down to 20-22, but Panathinaikos kept the lead and made it 21-25 to take the lead in the set.

Panathinaikos was in no mood to get into any adventures as it imposed its rules early on in the second set and quickly took a +6 (5-11) lead. Athlos made a small run, but without worrying Panathinaikos who with 14-25, made it 0-2 in sets.

The third set was a microcosm of the first set, with Panathinaikos finding a reaction to Athlos’ reversal and, after hard work and suffering, turning 14-13 into 16-19. The “greens” pulled away and finally cleared the match with the 3-0 set.
