Portugal’s World Table Tennis Feeder concluded last week, the ITTF tallied the results for the international rankings announced on Tuesday and of course there was relevant interest in our two female champions competing in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Katerina Toliou who entered the women’s singles main draw had an impressive rise of 341 places to number 476. Elisavet Terpou, who was eliminated in the decisive qualifying round of the same event, moved up ten places to number 394.
In the women’s rankings, Toliou made up a lot of ground from last week’s points loss. We remind you that she was deducted points from last year’s corresponding participation in the Portuguese WTT Feeder and had “fallen” to number 817.
Now. the “golden” women’s singles Balkan champion took 10 points from the two victories in Vila Nova de Gaia and placing 33-64 and achieved a big promotion. It was found at number 476 and has a total of 12 points.
Terpu scored a victory in Portugal and claimed entry to the main table through the second qualifying round. She got two points on the scoreboard, but even those were enough to send her up ten places. The athlete of our national women’s team is this week at number 394. First in the ranking from the Greek side remains Malamatenia Papadimitriou (No. 371).
In men, there are no significant changes. As for the first Greek colors, Panagiotis Gionis appears in the 49th week of the charts at number 87 and Yiannis Sgouropoulos at 196.
