Panathinaikos A.O. to the Weightlifting Federation: “You don’t rise to the occasion…”

The relevant announcement in detail:

“The administration of the Panathenaic Athletic Club expresses its strong dissatisfaction with the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation for what took place in the Panhellenic championship.

The attitude of the EOAB management is causing intense concern as its decisions prove to be hostile to Panathinaikos.

We did not want to add fuel to the fire before the Panhellenic Championship so as not to affect the psychology of our sportsmen and women, and we tried until the start of the event to get clear answers from the relevant federation.

Nevertheless, we received vague answers and generalizations that put the ball on others and, in general, an image that does not refer to a sports federation.

Initially, it is inconceivable that the 2024 Panhellenic Championship will take place without the 2023 general score and the correction of the results of the 2023 Men’s and Women’s Panhellenic Championship, after the positive doping cases.

We are still looking for all the associations the correct overall and individual results and the constant excuse we hear is that EOCAN has not announced the third sample.

We are not asking for the names to be released, but for a document to be sent correcting the results.

There cannot be this characteristic delay which affects us in various ways in so many matters.

From then on, it is a world first, to organize the Panhellenic championship on the dates of the World championship (which have been announced on the website of the World Federation since the end of the previous year) thus degrading both sports events.

The event held in Bahrain deprived our weightlifter Elena Tzatzolari of the opportunity to take first place in the body weight category and Panathinaikos was deprived of winning the Panhellenic championship for 2024 in the Women’s category.

Finally, it is worth noting that Tzatzolari was the only representative of Greece in the World Championship”.
