“Sweet” defeat and qualification for Olympiakos

Olympiacos advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup. The Reds lost 3-2 to Lugoz in Romania in their second round of 16 match in the third-tier European club competition, but their 3-0 win in the first leg at Rendis two weeks ago was enough to give them the qualification.

Now, in the quarterfinals, Olympiacos will face the winner of the Galatasaray-Pfefingen match.

Olympiacos played with Fakopoulidou again as a duo in the extremes with Abderahim, however Lugoz started the match better and easily took the first set.

The “red and white” improved impressively in attack in the second set and equalized.

Lugoz retook the scoring lead, taking advantage of 11 Olympiakos errors in the third set, but with the amazing Fariol, who finished the match with 20 points and 8 blocks, the Reds easily took the fourth set and advanced.

In the tiebreak, Lorenzo Micelli made several changes, Olympiacos had the lead until 8-10, but Lugoz with individual scores 7-1 took the set and the prestigious victory.

*Lugoz’s points came from 9 aces, 44 attacks, 17 blocks and 31 opponent errors and Olympiacos’ points came from 9 aces, 55 attacks, 13 blocks and 20 opponent errors.
