Four Greeks of the sword weapon took place on the slopes of the European Fencing Championship on the second day of Genoa. Among them are the world’s leading, gifts of Goudoura and Despina Georgiadou, who won 11th and 13th respectively.
Three of the four Greek women managed to get the knockout from the Poul Phase. Gifts Goudoura (Ah Paiania AO) and Despina Georgiadou (PAO) scored 4/2 wins/defeats and Alina Kourousi (Apollo Vrilissia) scored 3/3 wins/defeats, qualifying in the knockout phase.

Gudura had won the eighth position last year and Georgiadou’s 21st, so the first will have a slight fall in the world rankings and the second slight rise.

Women’s Duine Sword (16/6)
The four Greek women in Genoa completed their presence in Genoa, with Ariadne Naskaris (Aristotle Paiania) who won 27th place in Europe. Naskaris scored 4/2 wins/defeats in Poul and qualified for the knockout phase, as was Nefeli Rodopoulou (Lx Thessaloniki) with 3/2 and Nicole Hadjisarantou (Aegian Paiania) with 2/4.
Outside of continuity, despite 2/4 wins/defeats, Andriana Theodoropoulou (Ae Ariston Paiania) remained, who took 78th place among 96 entries. In the ‘128’ round, Naskaris and Rodopoulou passed without a fight, while Hadjisarantou lost 15-12 to British Susan-Maria Sica and won 71st.
Rodopoulou in the battle for the entrance to the 32 best bent 15-6 by the Italian Rosel Fiamingo and won 45th. Naskari, on the other hand, managed to win the T64 against Russian Millen Bavougue-Hambimana, but failed to overcome the Swiss Pauline Brune’s obstacle to the battle for the entry of the 16s, resulting in the 96th of the 96th.

The National Team with Maria Chaldeou, Katerina Kontochristopoulou, Maria Stamos and Eleonora Kavvada started with a defeat in the ’16’ round against the strong team of Hungary 44-29. In the rankings for 9-16 positions, the Greeks faced the Russian team who fought as a neutral (AIN) and lost 45-30, eventually winning the 13th place in the competition.
