In an event held on Saturday (21/12) in the “Melina Merkouri” hall of S.E.F, KAE Olympiacos awarded the club’s academies in a festive ceremony, in the presence of coaches and staff of the academy, representatives of the men’s team, children of academies and members of the club’s management.

As part of the awards, the Giorgos Bartzokas, Kostas Papanikolaou and Sasha Vezenkov they talked about the importance of the infrastructure departments in the future of the “red and white”, but also about the hard work they all put in with the young stars of the next years.

George Bartzokas: “First of all, let me say that I felt amazing in this environment, with the athletes, the coaches, but also those who contribute to make our Olympiacos even bigger. And when I say bigger, I don’t just mean winning titles – which our Academy did last year – but producing high-level athletes who also man the national teams and kids who entered higher education institutions. Olympiacos is a very large family that spreads throughout Greece and abroad. Every day, such events and behaviors are growing more and more.”

“It’s a fantastic journey for every child who starts at the Olympiakos Academies and I wish there were more such examples like Spartali’s.”

Kostas Papanikolaou: “For such an event to take place means that there has been a lot of effort, work, dedication from many people, reaching the children. Everything starts from above, from the initiative of the presidents to create the academy with the people who make it up, the coaches, the therapists, the trainers, all the specialists who are around the children and make sure to give them the best possible conditions to work. When it comes to the children, it’s their work, it’s their effort, it’s their efforts that are rewarded.”

Sasha Vezenkov: “It is very important because an academy – where Kostas and I have started – needs a lot of organization, a lot of work. Above all the parents and the dedication they show, then all the coaches, gymnasts and all the staff and then the presidents who want to do something special and something big.

As the speakers inside said, it doesn’t matter how many trophies, how many awards you get. The most important thing is to be a good person, to chase your dreams, to work hard and at the end of the day leaving this academy to have given 100% and to have received, but also to have given a lot. We are very happy to be here, to wish health, happy holidays to everyone and to continue all this enormous effort that is being made”.
