Stoiximan GBL: The Post Season format

Four races before the completion of the regular season of this year’s Stoiximan GBL, ESAKE reminds Post Season format.

With the exception of the first two places where Panathinaikos Akto and Olympiacos have a significant lead, the other positions will be judged in the four remaining races.

All 12 teams in the league will participate in the post season where the champion’s title, the final ranking and the relegation team will be judged.

Play In for two places in the 8th

With the completion of the regular season will be the play-in races from which the two teams will come to complement the composition of the playoffs, but also the two who will then claim their stay at Stoiximan GBL.

The games will be knocked out with the home team that finished higher in the standings. The winner of the 7th couple with the 8th will qualify for the playoffs where they will take 7th place.

The 7-8 loser and the winner of the 9-10 match will re-clarify the winner completing the first octave as he will compete in the playoffs as the 8th, while the loser will be in 9th place. It is noted that their defeated “9-10” match will take 10th place.

With the completion of the games for the play-in, both the 8th for the playoffs and the four for the playouts will be completed.

Play-Outs (positions 9-12)

The players losers, as mentioned above, as well as the teams that finished in the 11th and 12th place of the regular season, make up the Playouts four.

There, the four teams will create a new two-round “mini-league” so that everyone can play with everyone at home and away, conveying the points they had in the regular season finale. At the same time in the tiers, their results on the regular season are also taken into account.

Upon completion of the Play-Outs 9th, 10th and 11th, they are classified according to their final score, while the 12th is relegated.

Play Offs (positions 1-8)

The playoffs are held with the 1st of the standings meeting the 8th, the 2nd in the 7th, the 3rd in the 6th and the 4th in the 5th. The series are judged in the two wins (Best of 3 Series) with the home advantage of the team that finished higher in the standings.

Subsequently, the semifinals will be held in the two wins (Best of 3 Series) with the two winners qualifying for the Stoiximan GBL finals. The series of finals is judged in the Best of 5 Series.

Classification Games

Since this season, there will be rankings for the 5-8 positions where the losers of the quarter-finals will face. The conduct system is equivalent to that of the play-in with the matches being knockout. The 5-6 winner will take fifth place. The 5-6 loser and the winner of the 7-8 match will be confronted and the winner will finish sixth while the defeat team will be seventh. The 7-8 loser will end eighth in the final score.

*In all series of Post Season the home advantage has the team that has finished higher in the normal season.
