It is clear that there is currently overproduction in the football industry. The market is saturated and fans find it difficult to keep up with over -supply, as four or more appearances are circulating each year, with quality sacrificing for quantity, with countless other capsule collections and collaborations, often without inspiration or substance.
On the part of clubs, there is an agonizing commercialization attempt – to make the next Venezia, to make the most of the Bloc Core before declining as a trend, etc. – but the result has less and less relationship with what people really want or needs less and less with what really represents football.
In addition, there is the environmental dimension of this overproduction, and our club certainly does not claim to have the answers. But the industry is conveniently chooses to ignore the issue.
Observing all of the above, our instincts tells us to take a breath, slow down the production, ensure that we create things we believe long enough to have timeless value, and evaluate the impact of the way we work, and the best course for the future. There is risks in this approach – we may not lose both revenue and visibility, elements important for a relatively small and developing club – but in the end, this is what seems to us right at the moment.
We already felt that the 23/24 collection was gone very quickly. As for the 24/25 collection, it has been sold out for months, which means that there is still a world looking for an appearance, while remaining so special, with a specific but dedicated audience, that there is room for us to be constantly discovered by young fans.
Even in the 1990s, but also in the early ’00s, some of our favorite clubs showed appearances to be worn for two consecutive seasons. At least for the next season, AKFC returns to this tradition. ”
