The first official reaction of the Russian president to Trump’s proposal – Putin set out the outline of any negotiations followed to end the war
Embarrassment, conflicting analyzes and many questions caused his first official reaction Vladimir Putin In the proposal that his team agreed Donald Trump for a possible 30 -day truce in Ukraine. Some were expecting a positive reaction from Moscow, some predicted rejection, but all together, they fell out of their estimates.
The Russian President, after meeting with the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenkohe set his own framework in the debate, and in view of the negotiations with Washington, which are sooner or later likely to be held at the highest level.
Putin in no way showed willing to get into a negotiation of retreats, as Trump had in the past 24 hours. Some analysts estimated that it was unclear. Everything else. The Russian president set out the outline of any negotiations followed for the expiration – and not the mere walking of the fire – of the war in the Ukraine. Putin raised specific questions to Washington, presenting his own … shades for a possible agreement, which, as he characteristically pointed out, should lead to a long -term peace and resolving the original causes of the crisis.
The Russian president was very specific about the issues that he considers to be resolved, at least at this stage and as conditions have been formed on both the front and diplomacy.
What are the questions he raised – almost at the negotiation table – Vladimir Putin? Are the following:
1) How will issues be resolved across the entire engagement line that is almost 2,000 km long?
2) Who will issue a ceasefire commands? And what is the cost of these commands?
3) Who will determine where and who violated a possible ceasefire agreement along 2,000 kilometers?
4) Who will blame who for breach of this agreement?
5) If we stop war operations for 30 days, what does that mean? That all those who are there and will withdraw without battles? What should we leave them free after committing many crimes against civilians? Or will the Ukrainian leadership order them to deposit their weapons and simply surrender?
6) How will these 30 days be used? For the purpose of continuing forced mobilization in Ukraine? For the purpose of supplying weapons there? For the purpose of new mobilized staff for training? Or will nothing like that?
7) How will verification issues be addressed?
8) How can we ensure and how do we guarantee that such check is not done?
These 8 questions relate to this phase. And the developments on the front. Although if they are found satisfactory for all sides, they will be solved above, they will follow even more pressing and deep questions than the Moscow.
Such as recognizing the territories that Russia has conquered on the Ukraine front, including the CrimeaNATO’s non -integration of Ukraine, the new Ukraine government and how it will emerge, as well as Russia’s relations with the West on the day after the end of the war.
Vladimir Putin, from his statements next to Lukashenko, did not seem willing to talk about … half -meters. The Russian president does not appear to be in line with a temporary truce. Right now the Russian troops are winning on the front, achieve their goals, Ukraine is exhausted and the territories it has conquered, considers it its own and non -negotiable.
