by

THE Miguel He is not yet another foreign striker who came, scored and … passed. It is a special story of perseverance, persuasion and dedication. Now in his 27s and after a successful semester at Athens Kallitheabeing the team’s top scorer and the reference point, speaks with complete sincerity to Sport-fm.gr about the difficult, the faith he had but mainly his father, and confirms the interest of the big teams in his face.

Olympiacos, AEK, Panathinaikos and PAOK have asked about him. Legia Warsaw is waiting for him and Ligue 1 watches him closely. He, at the most mature point of his career, will not rush to choose …

Interview with Stefanos Chorianopoulos

Miguel, how did your relationship with football start?

“Football came into my life very early on, thanks to my father. He really wanted to see me playing, to make a career. He wrote me at the academies of Havris, and there it all started. Scores at all ages and steadily steadily. I lived to become a professional. And then the shock came. I was 19 years old and my heart team, where I grew up for 15 years and was a football man, decided not to offer me a professional contract.

What was your first reaction?

“I didn’t have time to mourn. I had to live and support my family and my little kid. I went to my father and told him “Take me to you in the building”. For six months we were throwing concrete together. But every day I saw a regret in his eyes. He had not given up his dream of becoming his son’s son and he was the one who pushed me and supported me throughout this effort. That’s why thank you very much! ”

And was it easy to … reintegrate into the world of football?

“At all. I went to Annese, a team on the other side of France, near the border with Switzerland. 800 kilometers away from home. I thought about it a lot. As I had accepted anymore that I am not a footballer. But my father was the one who pushed me. ”

How has your career rolled since then?

“Then I went to Paris FC, which was a big step. But it didn’t fit me, so I moved to Bastia. The Corsica (Bastia -based area) changed me! I felt accepted, like my home. 12 goals scored, culminating in the Ajaxio derby goal. It’s something you don’t forget, as it’s a huge derby. As Greek. ”

And then came the proposal of Legia Warsaw:

“Yes, then Legia Warsaw came. I wanted to try something new last summer, but I didn’t adjust as much as I would like. Of course, my coach also played a role in this. He wanted to change my position. He wanted to make me extremist or play behind the striker because of my good technique. But I was a life for a life. It wasn’t easy. Fortunately, Athens Kallithea’s proposal came. ”

In which you scored 9 goals in 17 games, ie 50% of Athens Kallithea’s total goals in the games you played (18 the whole team in these matches):

“I wanted to see what I can do again. I got straight to the club and adapted. I also love Athens. It reminds me of both my birthplace, my birthplace and Corsica, where I spent the best season of my career. Sea, sun … “.

So would you like to stay in Athens?

“Yes, I really liked life in Athens! They have also asked for me Big 4. Olympiacos, AEK, Panathinaikos, PAOK … It is my honor. I also feel that the Greek league suits me. It has more spaces than Polish.

There is also interest from Ligue 1, but for the time being I have a contract with Legia Varosvia, which has changed coach. But we have to see what it will bring in the summer. ”

Athens Kallithea has a market option for you. Will they think about falling in the Second National and helping the team come back?

“The truth is that I would like to take advantage of the season I did and I think the Second National would be a backlash for me. At the moment I enjoy my vacation and then I will look at my suggestions. ”

Finally, a comment on the cheerful Koulouris who “breaks” them in Poland with Pogon:

“He’s a very good player. As I said, the Polish Championship is quite closed, so it takes great quality to score so much there. What he does there is no accident. ”
