Coach Rafael Soriano, from Desportiva Ferroviária-ES, attacked this Sunday (10) the assistant referee Marcielly Netto, at the end of the first half of the match against Nova Venécia, for the Campeonato Capixaba. He was sacked by the club after the match.

The aggression occurred on the way out to the interval of the confrontation, valid for the quarterfinals of the state of Espírito Santo. Dissatisfied with the end of the game before his team took a corner, he took the field to complain to the referee.

After an argument with judge Arthur Gomes Rabelo, Soriano hit Marcielly in the face with a headbutt and was sent off by the referee.

To the TV Cultura report that followed the game at the Zenor Pedrosa Rocha stadium, in Nova Venécia, he denied having assaulted the referee’s assistant. According to the report, he would have said that she was “wanting to take advantage of a situation because she is a woman”.

In a note published after the match, Desportiva Ferroviária announced Soriano’s resignation.

“Desportiva Ferroviária goes public to inform that it repudiates any type of violence, whether physical, verbal, moral or emotional, especially against women, and we sympathize with the referee assistant Marcielly Netto, making us available for whatever is necessary. “, said the club.

The Football Federation of the State of Espírito Santo informed that it will forward the summary of the match to the TJD-ES (Court of Sports Justice of Espírito Santo) and will follow the case closely.

“The Football Federation of the State of Espírito Santo (FES) says that it fights and repudiates any act of violence, practiced by the coach of Desportiva Ferroviária, and that it will give all the necessary support to assistant referee Marcielly Netto,” he said in a statement.

Desportiva Ferroviária lost the game 3-1 and was eliminated from the championship. Nova Venécia had also won the first match 2-0.
