The Argentine fan arrested for imitating a monkey for Corinthians paid bail and was released on Wednesday morning (27).
Identified at the police station as Leonardo Ponzo, he was detained at halftime between Corinthians and Boca Juniors, this Tuesday (27), at Neo Química Arena. Fans filmed him and reported him to police officers who were at the stadium.
Taken to Dope (Department of Strategic Police Operations), in the Barra Funda neighborhood, west of São Paulo, he spent the night there and was indicted for racial slur, a crime with a maximum penalty of three years in prison, but bail.
Accompanied by officials from the Argentine consulate in the capital, he paid R$3,000 to be released. Then he was taken to the airport.
Conmebol has not yet commented on the matter, as the case took place during a Copa Libertadores match, a competition organized by it.
Boca Juniors, through its Twitter account, apologized to Corinthians and said it will analyze measures to punish its associate.
The case comes almost two weeks after a River Plate fan was filmed throwing a banana at Fortaleza fans. He was suspended from going to the stadium by the Argentine team.
