A new application for mobile phones called “SEISMICITY – EAA” presented the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA), with the aim of timely and reliable information to citizens about seismic events in Greece.
The application is a direct point of contact of the public, print and electronic press and the scientific community around seismic phenomena in our country. Thanks to the participatory action of the users, the application displays an overall picture of the magnitude and effects of an earthquake.
Main features of the application, which is available in Greek and English, are:
* Real time seismic information.
* Ability to display seismic events on a map and observe their geographical location.
* Personalized event view (earthquake magnitude, date, distance from user location).
* Ability to share seismic events via email, social networks, etc.
* “I felt an earthquake” function where users record their experiences and the area where an earthquake was felt is displayed, according to user entries.
You can “download” the application on Android devices via Google Play and on iOS devices via the Apple Store.
