The glowing spiral gas cloud lit up the sky over Nelson, a town on the southern tip of New Zealand, and traveled 750 miles south to Stuart Island at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
A mysterious blue spiral in the sky of New Zealand has troubled the citizens with many even talking about the appearance of aliens.
But according to the Daily Mail, experts say that the cause was much closer to Earth.
The spiral gas cloud lit up the sky over Nelson, a town off the southern island of New Zealand, and traveled 750 miles south to Stuart Island at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Residents of the southern island have discovered that the strange stellar phenomenon was caused by man-made space debris – a dying rocket launched by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.
The countdown clock has resumed at the Kennedy Space Center for today’s Artemis 1 wet dress rehearsal. Loading of cryogenic propellants into the Space Launch System moon rocket will begin shortly.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying Globalstar DM15 satellites Sunday morning – the third rocket flight in 36 hours.
As the rocket released its payload, it spun and evaporated the fuel, causing a trail of vapor that reflected sunlight. The illuminated plume of the rocket created the visible blue swirl.
The New Plymouth Astronomical Society said the fuel dump was the most likely cause of the striking spiral.
The spiral that was seen in the sky tonight around 19:30 was most likely a fuel dump or a plume of space from a SpaceX rocket launch “, he wrote in a relevant post on Facebook.
“Similar effects have been observed in the past and SpaceX Globalstar 2 FM15 may have passed through New Zealand at that time.”
The stunning blue spiral was a spectacular sight for thousands of New Zealanders despite the less striking, ultimately, explanation for its origins in relation to the alien scenario.
