Researchers in the US developed the first artificial intelligence system which analyzes data on past crime and can predict with 90% accuracy where and how many new crimes will occur in a city within the next week. It is the most accurate algorithmic tool that has been developed to date in the field of criminology.

Researchers at the University of Chicago, led by Isanou Tsatopantagaiwho made the relevant publication in the journal Nature Human Behaviorstated that their “smart” model can, based on historical data, predict with sufficient accuracy the possibility of specific crimes in individual areas of a large city.

«If you feed the model data that happened in the past, it will tell you what is going to happen in the future. It’s not magic, it has limitations, but we confirmed that it works really well. It can also be used as a simulation tool to see what happens if crime increases in one area of ​​the city or if available police forces increase in another area.“, Said Chatopantaya.
