Apple’s latest and greatest 13-inch MacBook Pro was unveiled at the company’s developer conference last month, alongside a redesigned MacBook Air.

The main selling point was the addition of Apple’s new M2 silicon chip. This has improved performance over previous models, says Apple.

But that’s the only change, according to iFixit’s teardown of the device.

After unboxing Apple’s latest laptop (starting at £1,349), the site found that while the processor was certainly new and powerful, everything else was identical to the 2020 version of the M1.

The case, connections, keyboard and screen have not changed.

In fact, the iFixit video shows that all cables, clamps, screws, and ground pins are the same.

The only difference is the new logic board and heat sink adjustments to accommodate the new processor.

Surprisingly, the processor is more powerful, but the entry-level MacBook Pro 2022 M2 actually has slower storage than its predecessor due to different SSD configurations.

The only upgrade was to the processor, but Apple still added subtle price increases to the new machine. Apple’s MacBook Pro M1 will be available in 2020 for £1,299, with the latest version currently starting at £1,349.
