These are very close shots with great detail
The space telescope NASA’s James Webb once again this week offers us magical images from our Milky Way.
This time the “protagonist” is Jupiter and its satellites, in very close shots with great detail.
“In conjunction with the deep field images released in the past few days, these images of Jupiter confirm what Webb can observe, of the faintest, most distant observable galaxies and planets,” said Bryan Holler, a scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore.
Beyond DIA, James Webb also captures its moonsEurope, Thebes and Metis.
In addition, Webb recorded some of the rings of Jupiter, which stand out in particular in the NIRcam wavelength filter image. That the rings appeared in one of Webb’s first images of the solar system is “absolutely amazing,” said Stephanie Milam, Webb’s associate program scientist for planetary science.
