Procon-SP made a survey of the prices of cell phones compatible with 5G approved by Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency). The connection brings higher speeds than the previous generation and is available in 15 Brazilian capitals.
Today, there are 84 models approved by the agency, from the brands Apple, Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, Asus, Realme, TCL, Nokia, Lenovo and Zebra. Prices range from R$1,400 to R$11,500.
The list of Anatel devices is from July this year and can be updated with new releases. Agency approval is required to use and market the product in the country.
The survey of cell phone prices was carried out by the School of Consumer Protection and Defense between August 26 and 29. The research consulted the main retail websites, marketplaces and sales intermediation portals.
Samsung leads with 28 approved devices, covering the entire price range, from R$1,400 to R$11,500. Apple has nine authorized models.
According to Procon, some models were not found for sale and others, although not officially sold in Brazil by the manufacturer, were seen on some of the websites visited.
The Ministry of Communications and Anatel have already released more than 4,000 antennas with 5G network in 15 capitals of the country. Today, 4,051 stations are authorized to operate with the new technology, according to updated data from the state-owned company and the ministry. The projection is that the entire national territory will be covered by 2029.
BrasÃlia was the first city to receive the connection’s 3.5 GHz band, on July 6. In São Paulo, the technology arrived on August 4th. To access the connection, the user must be in the coverage area and have a compatible device. The Procon survey is available here.
