Elon Musk appears to have already started layoffs as workers worry about their future – Trump’s tweet hours after takeover and European warnings to billionaire

The world’s richest man and owner of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, is now the new boss of Twitter after the acquisition was completed for $44 billion.

After months of legal wrangling, Musk announced the completion of the acquisition in a tweet, writing “the bird has been set free” and followed up a little later by writing “let the good times roll”. However, the future of the popular social networking platform remains in question even as some top executives, including boss Parag Agrawal, have reportedly been fired.

Musk, for his part, is also expected to address workers today and reassure them about the information that has come to light about mass layoffs.

In fact, some American media report that it is possible that Musk himself will take the place of Parag Agrawal.

Musk’s plans for Twitter

Tesla’s CEO and self-proclaimed champion of free speech has said he wants to prevent the popular platform from becoming a room that promotes hate and division. It also wants to combat spam bots through software that detects and blocks them. However, Musk has not given details on how he will achieve all this and who will run the company. However, it has said it will go ahead with job cuts, leaving 7,500 employees to worry about their future.

He believes that content control is too strict and has criticized the blocking of users like Donald Trump, a comment that many see as a harbinger of Trump’s return.

Trump’s satisfaction with the takeover

Even former US President Donald Trump himself expressed his satisfaction today that Twitter has passed into what he says is “good hands” after being bought by Elon Musk, but did not specify whether he plans to return to the platform that ousted him after the attack by his supporters on the Capitol.

“Twitter is now in good hands and will no longer be run by the lunatics of the radical left who truly loathe our country,” he wrote in a post on his own network, Truth Social.

According to Trump, Truth Social “looks and works better.” “I love Truth,” she added.

Musk has said he will restore the account of the former president, who at the time said he had no plans to return to Twitter.

European Warnings

However, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, warned Musk today that Europe should respect the regulation that has just been approved for the big platforms.

“In Europe, the bird will fly according to our European rules” was Breton’s response to Musk’s tweet.
