Twitter claims Meta hired “dozens of ex-Twitter employees” who had access to confidential information about its new app
Elon Musk declares war on Mark Zuckerberg. Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over the new app threads, also called the “killer of Twitter”, as reported by Semafor.
The new app will allow users to transfer their existing followers and account names from Instagram, Meta’s photo and video sharing app that counts big celebrities among its 2 billion users.
“A public discussion app with over 1 billion people will be created,” Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a post on his Threads account. “Twitter had the opportunity to do it, but he didn’t make it. Hopefully we will.”
In a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, X Corp, which owns Twitter, says the following through its lawyer Alex Spyro:
“Twitter intends to enforce strictly its intellectual property rights and requires Meta to take immediate action to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information.”
“Twitter all rights reserved, including but not limited to the right to seek remedies and injunctive relief without further notice to prevent any further retention, disclosure or use of its intellectual property by Meta.”
X Corp also accuses Meta of “systematic, deliberate and unlawful abuse trade secrets and other intellectual property of Twitter.”
The letter claims that Meta hired “dozens of former Twitter employees” who had access to confidential information, according to Semafor. Twitter lawyers also describe Threads as “app – copy”and Meta is warned that it “violates both (US) state and federal law.”
The application collected over from 30 million records in the first hours of her life, Zuckerberg said. However, this number is still far from the more than 300 million Twitter users.
