Digital Governance Awards for civil servants and officials who with their actions and ideas have contributed to the digital transformation of the Greek Public Administration and to the improvement of the provision of public services to the citizens, will be awarded for the first time by the competent general secretariat.
As of this morning, the possibility of submitting participation proposals is available through digitalawards.gov.gr. The competition is conducted in accordance with Law 4727/2020 and from now on will be held on an annual basis, in the context of the mission of the Ministry of Digital Government for the digital transformation of the State and the country in general.
Eligible to participate in the competition are public bodies or civil servants and officials, who have designed or implemented, either collectively or individually, innovative applications on the one hand for the digital transformation and the improvement of the Public Administration and on the other hand for the sensitization and information on important issues related to the digital strategy of the country.
Those interested can submit their proposals for evaluation until February 15, 2022. The winners will be announced on March 31, 2022 and at a later time a special event will be organized to award the winners.
The Digital Governance Awards are divided into the following five thematic categories: (a) Public Administration, Local Government and Justice, (b) Economy, Development and Entrepreneurship, (c) Health and Social Affairs, (d) Education-Culture, (e) Security Citizen.
Each category is divided into the following two subcategories: (a) Best Practice Idea, which rewards ideas that are either in production or trial mode for at least three (3) months until the start of applications and (b) Best New Idea , which rewards ideas that are in the conception or experimental stage, but have not yet been put into production or trial mode. Especially for the first year of the competition, due to the special conditions that Covid -19 has created worldwide, the awards will relate to ideas and proposals for the years 2020 and 2021.
In each category, the first two implemented and new ideas are awarded, with the winners receiving a corresponding cash prize.
In addition to the Digital Governance Awards, two special honorary distinctions are awarded each year: Individual, in which the ideas of individuals, natural or legal persons, who have implemented and improved public services or have used data from the Public Administration to develop applications successfully are awarded.
