In 2019, few believed that within two years Greece would be among the countries recognized for their digital capabilities, said the Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, speaking at the International Conference on “Smart Countries” (Smart Countries Convention) held in Berlin and presenting the digital leap of recent years.

Mr. Papastergiou referred to the creation of gov.gr, which already includes 1,600 digital services, its imminent enrichment with artificial intelligence applications, the positive reception of the project by citizens and the government’s goal of digitizing 100% of services by 2027.

Our philosophy remains civil-centric. All our digital services are designed to be simple and easy to use from a citizen’s perspective. We aim to continue on this path, as in the modern world there is no room for digital bureaucracy“, the minister emphasized.

Especially in the health sector, Greece has repeatedly been highlighted in recent years as an example to follow by the German media, including for the organization of vaccination against Covid-19.

We are in the new era of Greece“, underlined Dimitris Papastergiou and spoke of a “new bright side of Greece, a country that has decided to change its infrastructure, to change its digital policies, to change mainly its way of thinking”.
