Thessaloniki: Memorandum of Cooperation between the Research and Innovation Center and Pfizer

Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Center for Research and Technological Development (CERTH) was signed by the Center for Digital Innovation of Pfizer in Thessaloniki (CDI), with this agreement to document its first strategic cooperation with the innovation ecosystem of the city and to proceed already in practice.

The first project implemented, in collaboration with the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IPTIL) of CERTH, concerns the development of software in the form of an intelligent agent, which will conduct a dialogue and answer questions from health professionals and patients. The software will use natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning technologies in order to understand the questions and compose appropriate answers.

“The importance and usefulness of developing such software, which became even more apparent during the pandemic, can significantly contribute to valid information, as well as to improving the experience of communicating with patients and health professionals.” underlined today in a Pfizer CDI announcement, which further clarifies that the framework of cooperation between the two bodies includes the implementation of research and innovation projects, the highlighting of important research results produced, but also the possibility of their use in innovations that change their lives. patients.

THE Nico Gariboldi (Nico Gariboldi), head of the Pfizer Digital Innovation Center, pointed out that the strategic priority of the Center is to promote collaborations with the ecosystem of Thessaloniki, aiming at innovations that improve the lives of patients and stated that “The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marks the beginning of a creative collaboration with a significant impact on both Pfizer and the Digital Innovation Center and CERTH, through joint projects that always focus on the patient.”
