In particular, according to GSMA data, in 2023 transactions via mobile devices in value reached the astronomical amount of 1.4 trillion dollars, showing an increase of 14% compared to the previous year, i.e. in value transactions amount to 2.7 million dollars . every 60 seconds.

This fact is due to the large number of mobile phone subscribers that globally exceed 5.6 billion with the prospect of rising to 6.3 billion in 2030. More than 60% of the world’s population has access to the internet through a mobile phone, thus highlighting the dominance of the medium in the economy and transactions in every sector of the economy.

On the same wavelength is the development of the smart mobile phone in Greece as active users in mobile banking approach 6 million in number, having emerged as a leading alternative digital banking transaction channel.
