GWM was founded in 1984 as a small manufacturer partially owned by a local government in Hebei. Wei Jianjun, the current president of GWM, was appointed manager of the company in 1990 and raised the company, making it one of the leading truck manufacturers in China. In 1998, the company was privatized and publicly made on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2003.
The company produces and sells vehicles with various brands, including GWM, Haval, Wey, Tank, Poer and Ora. GWM also has been operating a BMW Group joint venture from 2019 to produce MINI electric vehicles in China, under the name Spotlight Automotive.
Analysts estimate that other Chinese brands are considering the potential of Deepseek services.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Informatics has announced that the country’s three largest telecommunications companies –Cina Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom – are trying to “promote the comprehensive application of the latest AI technology” and work with the Deepseek Open Code Model, Reuters reports Reuters .
Deepseek’s artificial intelligence platform, which threatens to overturn the finances of yet another emerging industry, is yet another challenge for China’s wider technological sector.
Chinese investors have hastened to buy shares associated with artificial intelligence, including Chinese chip manufacturers, software designers and data centers in recent days.
Two listed companies that had expressed interest in leveraging Deepseek’s lower costs warned investors that their business perspective had not changed.
The Beijing Capitalonline Data Service, which provides cloud computing services, said in a statement on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange that it had developed the Deepseek-R1 model.
In her statement she pointed out that the business effect of Deepseek’s mood and any impact on the company’s future performance was both uncertain.
Meig Smart Technology based in Shenzhen, which provides wireless data terminals for IoT devices, told the Shenzhen Exchange that it was working to adjust Deepseek -related models, but remained in the early stages of this work.
Other Chinese companies, including Tencent and Huawei, have said last week that they have incorporated the Deepseek model into their own products.
