Digital exams (and) in driving. With one click From now on, the trainee drivers and their trainers in the Region of Central Macedonia will schedule the theoretical and practical exams, without counters, queues or transfers. The new service, which is introduced for the first time in Greece and is expected to facilitate the citizens by reducing their suffering, was presented by the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakaki and the governor of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Interior (Macedonia and Thrace) Stavros Kalafatis.

This new service is introduced for the first time in Greece and, as Mr. Pierrakakis pointed out, “reflects the will of the Region and the governor to lead this effort of digital transformation of the country’s regions and better service to the citizen as a whole by each region and every state structure of the country “. He announced that in the course it will be extended throughout the country, while many more things in this field will be done digitally. “There will be a car wallet on our mobile phone, as we have already announced where our diploma, the license, will be located,” he pointed out.

In the Peripheral Unit of Thessaloniki, the new digital service, as Mr. Tzitzikostas pointed out, will serve every month 440 driving schools, 4500 candidate drivers of theoretical and practical exams and 2500 candidate drivers of practical exams, while in the whole region (in all seven regions ) more than 15,000 prospective theoretical and practical test guides will be served each month.

“It is only the beginning”

The Minister of Digital Governance underlined that when the vaccination platform was launched, “the idea was to send a message above all that what we see on this vaccine platform is not just about the vaccine. It is a message of how the service of the citizen by the state can change, a message of how we can have a helping state and not an obstacle “.
He also noted that the country started as a pioneer, tail, especially in areas such as fixed telephony, where in 2019 it was in last place in Europe. However, he stressed that “the speed with which we run has been certified by international awards or by a series of studies that show that there is convergence”.

At the same time, efforts are being made to fill the gaps that separate us from other northern countries and, as he said, “our country in a number of areas, not only covers the gap but stands out and is in the first places.” Indicatively stated that at the disposal of the 5G spectrum, Greece is in the top three countries in Europe, while the national vaccination system is considered one of the best in Europe and perhaps in the world. “Vaccination systems did not work in states like Massachusetts that have universities like MIT and Harvard and worked in Greece,” he added, stressing that this reflects the enormous potential of Greek engineers and citizens. “This is just the beginning,” he added.

He also announced that in the establishment of a sole proprietorship the procedures will become digital in a very short time, while there are a number of projects that have been included in the recovery fund, such as the single licenses for licenses that when created will be 100% digital. “Gov.gr started with 501 such services and today has exceeded 1300, more than one service per day in two years” he said and added that by 2025, “as is the range of completion of the book of digital transformation we can talk now for a state that will have changed a century not only in the calendar but also in practice “.

St. Kalafatis: “We are entering a new era”

Mr. Kalafatis expressed the assessment that “we are entering a new era, we are doing what we owe, we are changing speed, we are changing rhythms”. “Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s commitment was to proceed with the digital transformation of the state in order to cover the lost ground and move forward. “And this commitment is becoming a reality, with the Minister of Digital Government, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in close cooperation with all the ministries and the local self-government”, he said, while he stated that “the pandemic was a challenge and a reason to take faster steps”.

Two new movies are coming soon

Mr. Tzitzikostas also thanked Mr. Pierrakakis for the incentives given by the ministry to achieve the goal set by the Region to become a hub for television and film producers and stressed: “We are already in the third Hollywood film being shot in our area, we have two more coming in the very near future. If the legal framework had not changed from the previous government and if it had not been improved by you in the leadership of the Ministry of Digital Governance, we could not even have it. The benefits are huge directly and indirectly in jobs, income for our region and the huge visibility that Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia have “.
