Google has announced that it is preparing several upgrades to its popular map application, Google Maps, adding, among other things, the ability to see how much tolls you will need to pay before embarking on a journey.
For a start, the feature will debut in the United States, India, Indonesia and Japan in April, with data on about 2,000 toll roads in those countries. According to the announcement on the official Google blog, the feature will arrive in more countries “soon”.
So, through its new toll options Google Maps, the user will be able to see how much he will have to pay in total at all the toll stations that exist on the proposed route. At the same time, if possible, the driver will be able to choose alternative routes to avoid tolls altogether.
The new additions do not stop there, however, for Google Maps. Specifically, the company announced that it will enrich its maps with even more information. In more detail, drivers will soon be able to see exactly where there are traffic lights and stop signs on their route. At the same time, in selected cities Google Maps will soon show you the exact shape and width of the street, including the interstices, islands and shapes of the surrounding buildings.
