SpaceX made the launch less than 40 hours after another crew recovered, in a hasty flight schedule after Elon Musk’s operation became NASA ‘taxi’ to the ISS.
After the end of the US spacecraft in 2011 and until 2020, the Americans relied on space missions on Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
The four Crew-4 astronauts will be joined by another crew, watching its return to Earth approach, after a five-month mission, and his return date will be announced soon.
Three Russians are also on the ISS.
The new crew will continue research into gravity conditions, mainly in plants, as well as an artificial human retina design.
Jessica Watkins will be just the fifth black woman to go into space and the first to reach the space station for a long mission.
Together with the other three crew members, they are expected to arrive at the ISS approximately 17 hours after take-off. Their boat is expected to be moored at the ISS at 03:15 Greek time tomorrow, Thursday.
