A Brazilian was arrested after being accused of bombing a steakhouse in the state of Massachusetts, in the United States.

According to police in the city of Barnstable, Eduardo Filho, 29, left a suitcase at the Fogo Brazilian BBQ steakhouse and then called the establishment. The Brazilian reportedly said that if someone touched the object, it would trigger a mechanism that would cause an explosion.

The threat would have happened on Friday (20), around 18:00 local time, according to the American broadcaster WCVB. Eduardo Filho was arrested the next day.

The steakhouse was evacuated cautiously. The operation relied on the work of the Fire Department until the arrival of the Massachusetts police bomb squad.

After all customers and employees were evacuated, experts examined the suitcase and found no explosive materials or devices. Then the police began an operation to locate the Brazilian.

He was found and captured by state police on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Members of the Barnstable City Police Department helped transport Eduardo back to the mainland in a patrol boat.

The Brazilian was accused of terrorist threat and use of a fraudulent device. He was indicted on Monday (23) in Barnstable District Court and is being held on $25,000 bond.
