One person was killed and two others were injured in what became known as the Tuesday high school graduation ceremony at Xavier University in New Orleans.
A witness told local channels that the woman who was fatally injured was the grandmother of a student who attended the graduation ceremony.
The other two victims, both males, have non-life-threatening injuries, local authorities said. One was shot in the shoulder and the other in the leg. New Orleans Police made at least three arrests.

The suspect and the victims have not yet been identified, with New Orleans ambulances rushing the injured to a local hospital.
The new incident of violence is coming in the aftermath of the Texas Massacre with 21 dead, 19 of whom were children.
