The US Department of Defense announced late last night, Tuesday night, that it will create a new team that will investigate reports of the presence of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) in controlled airspace.
The group was formed after the government released a report in June, which included 144 observations stating that there was a lack of data to determine the nature of the mysterious flying objects.
The new team, called the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group, will be overseen by the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Services, the Director of the Joint Staff, and Office Officers.
Undersecretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks said in a separate statement that the presence of Unidentified Aircraft Identity (UAP) in controlled airspace poses a potential threat to aircraft crew safety and potential national security concerns.
The new team, which will succeed the Navy Impact Force for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, will work to detect, identify and identify objects, as well as to assess and mitigate any threats associated with them, Penta said. .
For decades, the US military has rejected, demystified and disputed observations of unidentified flying objects and “flying saucers” dating back to the 1940s.
