Following the plenary vote on “Islands and Cohesion Policy: Current Situation and Future Challenges”, Regional Development Committee (REGI) Chairman and rapporteur Younous Omarjee will share his conclusions with media representatives.
THE Younous Omarjee will inform the media about the need for targeted cohesion policies and actions for EU island regions.
Following the plenary vote on the report “Islands and cohesion policy: current situation and future challenges”the chairman of the Regional Development Committee (REGI) and rapporteur of the report Younous Omarjee will share his conclusions with representatives of the media.
The report describes economic, social and environmental challenges facing the island regions of the EU and seeking compensation through targeted cohesion policy, additional funds from the budget and a series of actions to address the needs of the islands.
MEPs will consider the dossier during the first plenary session in June (06-09 / 06), in order to support the possibility of a targeted EU cohesion policy for the islands. The vote will take place on Tuesday.
Younous Omarjee (Left, France) will focus on the main conclusions, following a working meeting with representatives of the regions concerned.
