Maduro Call from Turkey: Come invest in Venezuela

by

“We are discovering new resources and a lot of wealth: I call on investors from Turkey to come for mining, tourism, supply chains, oil, gas, gold …,” said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro today made a loud appeal to Turkish investors in Ankara, highlighting his country’s many riches, such as oil, gas and gold.

Noting that Venezuela is on the road to recovery after “an avalanche of sanctions” imposed in 2019 by the United States and the pandemic parenthesis, he assured that a “new era” is opening.

“We are discovering new resources and a lot of wealth: I invite investors from Turkey to come for mining, tourism, supply chains, oil, gas, gold …”

“Come on, now is the time!” he said during a press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Maduro’s visit to Ankara comes on the eve of the US Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden in California, to which the Venezuelan head of state was not invited.

In the same way, Erdogan was excluded along with a few other leaders from the “Democracy Summit” organized by the White House last November.

In 2019, the Turkish head of state was one of the few leaders in the world to express his support for Maduro, as Washington and dozens of countries around the world had recognized the legitimacy of opposition leader Juan Guido as Venezuela’s interim president.

Erdogan announced his intention to visit Caracas “in July”.

The two leaders are linked to a series of more than 50 trade agreements, including three signed today on tourism, agriculture and banking.

Trade between the two countries has tripled to $ 1 billion in three years, the Turkish president said. Turkish Airlines also operates seven weekly flights between Istanbul and Caracas.

After Ankara, Maduro is expected to visit Algeria tomorrow, Thursday.
