Ukraine: 77 miners trapped in a mine in Donetsk

Seventy-seven miners have been trapped in mine in the Donetsk regionin eastern Ukraine, after the power outage at the mine caused by the bombing, Russia’s state news agency.

«As a result of bombing by (Ukrainian forces), the power supply to the Zasiyadko mine in Donetsk was cut off, 77 miners remain underground“, RIA reported, citing the territorial defense of the Russian-backed separatists of the region.

Reuters was not able to verify this information from an independent source and so far there has been no reaction from Kyiv.

THE Ukraine regularly denies carrying out any attacks in the two areas including Donbas, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk Democratic Republics, where separatists occupied large swathes of territory in 2014.

Russia recognized these two regions as independent state entities on the eve of its February 24 invasion of Ukraine.
