After Gustavo Petro’s victory in Colombia’s presidential election this Sunday (19), Latin American leaders congratulated the leftist, especially representatives of the same political spectrum, such as Argentine Alberto Fernández, Chilean Gabriel Boric and Venezuelan Nicolás Maduro.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has yet to comment on the victory, but his opponent and former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said shortly after the Colombian result that Petro’s victory “strengthens democracy and progressive forces in Latin America.”
