Separately, British Airways employees in Heathrow who are members of the Unite union have also voted, with the results expected on Monday.

In total, more than 700 members British Airways ticket control staff and ground handling agents could go on strike during this operation.

The dates of the strike have not been confirmed, but it is likely to be during the peak summer holiday period, according to the GMB, and while airlines are trying to recover from the difficult period of the pandemic.

What the union seeks is to reverse the 10% pay cut imposed on workers during the pandemic. BA says it has offered a one-time 10% bonus, but no return on the same fee as before.
