Ukrainian media: A man carrying Putin’s nuclear codes was shot in the head

THE Vadim Zimin, A retired colonel carrying the briefcase with Vladimir Putin’s nuclear codes was found shot at his home near Moscow, Ukrainian media reported.

He is currently in intensive care. Retired Federal Security Service (FSB) Colonel Zimin, 53, was in charge of transporting the briefcase that always accompanies the Russian president. He has held this position since the leader of the Russian Federation was Boris Yeltsin.

Putin has previously been photographed with Jimin at his side carrying nuclear codes, and the briefcase’s presence is considered a symbolic threat to the West.

Zimin was in the kitchen of his apartment in Krasnogorsk, in the Moscow region, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Kyiv Post quotes Russian state media as saying he “attempted suicide” and was discovered by his brother “in a pool of blood”. Zimin is said to have been shot in the head, while an Izh 79-9TM pistol was found near him.

The “suicide attempt” comes after it was announced that Zimin is facing criminal investigation for bribery, while the retired colonel had been placed under house arrest. Jimin denied the allegations, which are related to his new job at customs.
