Are the Baltic states Putin’s next target? – They are asking for an additional 50,000 troops from NATO

An additional 50,000 troops were requested by the NATO the governments of its countries Balticjointly expressing their fears of a possible invasion of the Alliance Russia in their territories.

According to international media reports, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia requested Alliance to take seriously the Russian threat against them, as they receive information about Vladimir Putin’s moves that point to their gradual exclusion.

Replacing the force of 4,000 soldiers with a stronger one

The three Baltic states have asked Jens Stoltenberg to consider replacing the region’s 4,000-strong force with 50,000 troops and full armaments, as they fear they will be Moscow’s next military target after Ukraine.

Putin’s mandate to establish a “corridor of connection” between Russia, Belarus and Kaliningrad endangers not only the three former Soviet republics, but also the Poland.

The Baltic states have already received a positive response from their allies, as US President Joe Biden announced that he would strengthen US troops in Europe in general and in the region in particular.

The United States will also strengthen its weapons systems in Poland, Romania, the Baltic states and other European countries to create a network of forces capable of responding immediately to a threat from Russia.
