A woman suspected of being killed by professional cyclist AnnaMoriah “Moe” Wilson has been arrested in Costa Rica 43 days after her flight.

Caitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, was arrested at a Santa Teresa beach shelter in connection with the shooting of Wilson in Austin, Texas, on May 11, according to the US Marshals Service.

Police arrested Armstrong on suspicion of first-class murder in Wilson’s death after discovering that Wilson had a crush on Colin Strickland, Armstrong’s boyfriend, who is also a professional cyclist.

Wilson was found bleeding and unconscious from multiple gunshot wounds at his friend’s home in Austin, where he went on the run.

Surveillance footage from the night of the shooting shows auto authorities believe Armstrong returned home after Wilson returned from dinner with Strickland.

The next day, police brought Armstrong in to question him about an irrelevant arrest warrant and asked him about Wilson’s death. He couldn’t explain why his car was in the area at the time of the shooting and told officers he didn’t know Strickland was with Wilson that day.

Despite conflicting court orders for misdemeanors, Armstrong was released from police custody for technical reasons.

When police investigated Wilson’s death, clues, including a tip that a 34-year-old boy told bikers to “stay away” from his boyfriend, pointed to Armstrong.

Police then issued a warrant for his arrest on May 17, a few days after he fled the state.

Last week, the US Marshals Service discovered Armstrong’s car and sold it before he left the Austin airport on May 13. Authorities believe he boarded a Southwest Airlines flight to Hobby Airport in Houston before connecting to LaGuardia Airport in New York.

From there he was taken to Newark Liberty International Airport and boarded a plane to Costa Rica with a false passport, according to the US Marshals Service.

Susan Palmaro of the US Marshals Service for the Western District of Texas said the investigation initially escalated to “major incident situations” and “likely played a key role in his capture after 43 days of execution.”

“This is an example of local, state, federal and international authorities pooling resources to arrest violent fugitives, in the hope that they will be implemented and provide a sense of closure to the families of the victims. “We are,” Pamellow said.

According to police, Wilson, the rising star of gravel racing, had been with Strickland for about a week last fall after breaking up with Armstrong, whom she had been dating for three years. At the time of Wilson’s death, Armstrong and Strickland resumed their relationship and lived together.

“He was not in a romantic relationship with anyone at the time of his death,” Wilson’s family said in a statement. Strickland was not considered a suspect, as security footage and other evidence showed he was elsewhere when he died.

Members of the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Department of International Operations, the Department of Homeland Security, and the State Office of Diplomatic Security, along with Costa Rican authorities, participated in the operation to occupy Armstrong.
