The cancellation of another 10,300 flights from Britain to mainly European destinations between August and October was announced by British Airways (BA).

According to the company, the decision was dictated by staff shortages that limit the ability to serve the passenger public.

It is believed that the cancellations are mainly for flights with relatively few bookings so far.

New cancellations are added on the approximately 16,000 British Airways flights for this year that were announced in May.

The company made the announcement by taking advantage of the “amnesty” given by the government to change the flight schedules of the airlines until Friday, that is, without imposing a fine on the companies as would be done under normal circumstances.

The government’s move is aimed at preventing further last-minute cancellations, which add to the inconvenience for passengers.

The canceled flights represent 13% of BA’s schedule for the heart of summer. Thousands of passengers are now being forced to look for other flights, with the airline offering either alternative dates or compensation.

However, the suffering for BA passengers it is expected to increase in the next period, as probably on Thursday the dates of the strike actions in favor of which the staff members of the company have voted will be announced.

The strikes are expected to coincide with the start of the school summer holidays at the end of July.
