Colombia: Police burned 1.5 tons of marijuana – The smoke “choked” the whole city

The wind “betrayed” the business and made the residents of the area uncomfortable.

Authorities in the city of Bello, Antioquia Province, Colombia, proceeded to destroy a huge amount of marijuana, which had been seized.

And what’s the best way to destroy something? Burn it, the officials thought, and so they proceeded to burn 1,678 kilograms of marijuana.

However, the wind “betrayed” the business and made the residents of the area uncomfortable.

Although they initially thought it was a fire, the strange smell of marijuana made them realize.

At the same time, the Office of the Mayor of Bello denied the fire and confirmed that it was arson by the Police, the Army, the Firemen and the Prosecutor’s Office, who completed an operation.

Residents spoke of huge amounts of smoke, while some recorded the smoke on video.

Others spoke of the “repercussions” from the strong smell caused by burning the hallucinogen, while wondering: “do these people think this is the ideal place to do this?” while what prevailed is that the authorities showed “complete negligence” with the so-called controlled burning, since not a few houses had to be evacuated in order to be protected.

It is worth noting that according to the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Police, the seizures were made last week through two procedures and the confiscated marijuana was to be dosed and distributed in the neighborhood of El Mirador, in Bello.

“This is another blow we can give to Belo municipality in coordination with the National Police. We call on citizens to continue to report and to continue to believe in the institutions,” said Daniela Ortega, Bello’s Security Secretary.

At the same time, the Police highlighted the event as an achievement, but the dissatisfaction of the residents due to the burning was immediate
