Larnaca: What the 43-year-old claimed who beat a woman with a baby in her arms

Before the District Court Larnaca for extradition against the arrest warrant, this morning o 43-year-old man who was arrested at noon on Thursday, July 14, to facilitate the Police’s investigations regarding an investigated case of assault and provocation of actual bodily harmthreats, public insults, violations of the Law on Combating Certain Forms and Manifestations of Racism and Xenophobia and the Law on violence against women.

The 43-year-old was put under 4-day reservation.

As Eleni Constantinou, Communication Branch Officer of the Police Headquarters, reported to KYPE “the incident occurred around 18.30 on Wednesday, July 13 and as soon as information was received, police patrol cars of the Force went to the scene where they found a number of people gathered. Around the same period of time, a woman who reported that she had been attacked by a person in that particular spot went to the Minor Offenses Department of the Larnaca Police Department..

He added that “the woman was given a specific form to go to a General Hospital to receive medical treatment and return it to the Police. The woman went to the General Hospital of Famagusta, since she lives in that province, where after being examined by a doctor and receiving medical treatment, she then left”.

In response to a related question, Ms. Konstantinou said that “the doctor who examined the woman found that she had bruises on various parts of her body”.

As far as he is concerned 43 years old he said how “as soon as the suspect realized that he was wanted by the Police, he himself went to the Larnaca Police Department, where he surrendered for the case and was arrested. The 43-year-old made some allegations which are being investigated”.

Specifically, “The 43-year-old said that he had sold a car to this woman, who met with him and asked him for her money back after, as she claimed, the vehicle had experienced some mechanical failure. In his testimony, the suspect stated that he would give the money to the woman, after first returning the car to him”.
